Splish splash!

This morning we all got up at some silly hour (ok, it was 7.. but that is silly on a Sunday! lol) and went 'swimming'. Unfortunately none of us can actually swim, but we're hoping to change that for the girls. Beth has been having lessons, but isn't getting that far. Thankfully she wants to go, but she's lacking in confidence.. so today was a chance to let her practice.

By the end of our time there she was jumpling off the edge, and going down the slide by herself.. which is quite a step forward for her. She's also slowly doing better with the 'swimming' side of things too.

Amy hasn't been in for a while, and was quite scared at first. But by the end she was having a great time, and doing really well. At this rate, she'll beat her big sister!

As for me... no comment! LOL

I have to sympathise - I had to learn to swim twice after an incident in a pool meant I had the ability literally scared right out of me at age 7! I actually prefer swimming in the sea (well, the Med, anyway) rather than a pool - the chlorine makes my eyes puff up, so I'm not much of a one for pool swimming. Best of luck with the little'uns - it's something all kids should learn to do.

And just a thought - do they do adult swim lessonbs locally? It might be worth checking them out if you can't swim yourself & could help boost the kids' confidence if they can see their Mum happily swimming around. :)

Most children will learn to swim just by watching their parents having confidenec in the water. A child in with their parents playing for half an hour will learn much than the groupp swimming lesson. Go every week or at least once a fortnight and she will improve before your eyes, don't try to teach them, just chase, play, splash. Its a natural skill that all babies can do and you need to help them recall how to do it. The longer it is left the harder it is.
