Moving to MAX

I finally decided the other day to switch my adsl to a MAX product. I found my stats in my router, asked on some forums, and was told that I should expect good results with them. So, the regrade was ordered.

Now, I'm not too bad when it comes to technical stuff, and I've even been called a geek by a few people.. but all the information about MAX is just beyond me!

I'm reading web pages about attenuation, SNR, interleaving, checking wiring etc etc.. I have a friend also trying to explain it.. I'm watching my router stats as they change.. and it's making my head hurt!

Mind you, I recall being a little like this when I first started looking into networking and routers. That all makes sense now, and in fact seems pretty simple, so I'm not sure why I got so confused. So there's always hope!

Oh.. for anyone interested, at the moment I'm quite worried.. at certain times my noise margin keeps dropping (not good), and I lose sync (also not good). And at the moment, my speed test results are pretty useless. I have, however, been told by the above mentioned friend, that it's fairly normal, and it should settle.

I shall let you know if things improve.. and if it ever makes sense!
